Now that it’s December, I find myself reflecting on the events of 2015. This year, I had the opportunity to complete my third century ride as part of the Bike to Beat Cancer. More importantly, with the support of an awesome community of friends and family, I was able to reach a new fundraising milestone.
Of potentially greater importance, Shannan and I were afforded the opportunity to share our story in both print and video media, highlighting the reason I ride and why this fundraising event has come to play such an important role in our lives.
This past summer, we were the featured story in Norton Healthcares’s Get Healthy magazine, which gets mailed to 80,000+ homes in the greater Louisville area. (To view the magazine, click the picture below. The article starts on page 16.)
This past fall, in the days leading up to the 2015 ride, Norton Healthcare published a video interview, on their YouTube channel. As of the date of this posting, it is also the featured video on the Bike to Beat Cancer website.
No one would ever choose to go through the experience of having cancer or watching a loved one go through it. But, we are fortunate to be on the other side and happy to have the opportunity to share our story, in hopes of making someone else’s cancer journey a little easier.
Riders commit to raising at least $400, while survivors who are riding commit to raising at least $100. We recommend you join our Bike to Beat Cancer training program, especially if you are riding 35, 65 or 100 miles.
